Another DIY project

So today is an exciting day in our family.  Not only is my grandma turning 76 but my cousin is in labor with her second child, which will be my grandmas tenth great grandchild.
Last week I started to think about what I was going get my grandma for a gift. I was on Pinterest one day and came across a photo of a family tree that could be purchased on Etsy. It was $60 for the photo & I knew that was out of my budget. I knew there had to be a cheaper way.
I decided I would attempt to make one using Microsoft Publisher. After several attempts of not getting it I was starting to get discouraged. I decided I would give it one more try. I started to use wordart when typing out the names rather than the normal text box.  After making some changes & playing around with the placement I had it just the way I liked. Only thing left to do was get it printed & purchase a frame.  I designed the photo to be 11×14 but when I uploaded it to Walmart it cropped half the photo. I remembered that I had used Office Max to print some other projects. It uploaded perfectly! I then went to Target to find a frame. I found one brown frame in 11×14 & it was on clearance, even better. I'm so happy with the outcome and I hope she loves it much as I do when I give it to her later!
Breakdown of Cost:
Print at Office Max- $1.36
Frame at Target: $11.88

White BBQ Chicken Salad Recipe

I had to go to a picnic & was asked to bring a side dish. I used to work in a nursing home & they made a dish they called "White Barbecue Chicken Salad" that I have been craving for awhile now. I searched online for a recipe but couldn't find one. I did find a recipe for white barbecue sauce here and I remembered what they put in the salad. It turned out amazing!

Pasta Salad:
  • 1 Box Rotini Noodles
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper (Diced)
  • 1 Orange Bell Pepper Diced)
  • 1/2 Red Onion (Diced)
  • Diced Chicken (I used the premade chicken strips & cut them into smaller pieces)
  • 1 Can Of Black Beans
  • 2 Cans Of Corn
White Barbecue Sauce:
  • 2 Cups Mayo
  • 2 Tb Black Pepper
  • 2 Tb Salt
  • 6 Tb Lemon Juice
  • 6 Tb Distilled White Vinegar
  • 4 Tb Sugar
Directions:
Prepare the pasta as directed. While the pasta is cooking dice up the veggies & chicken, drain the black beans & corn. To prepare the sauce just mix all the ingredients & stir until smooth. Once everything is prepared mix together, chill for an hour then enjoy!
