Scentsy Consultant

I have decided to become an Independent Scentsy Consultant. The reason I decided to become a consultant is because I have been a fan of the product & have hosted several parties over the years but never really thought about selling it. That all changed after my cousin asked if I sold it because she was interested in hosting a party. I decided what the heck, I could use the extra money so I signed up. I will be hosting my first party on November 9th & I can't wait to see how this adventure goes.

Right now Scentsy is having a great sale every Monday during the month of October. It's called the Monster Madness Sale where select products are on sale for up to 75% off.

Another DIY project

So today is an exciting day in our family.  Not only is my grandma turning 76 but my cousin is in labor with her second child, which will be my grandmas tenth great grandchild.
Last week I started to think about what I was going get my grandma for a gift. I was on Pinterest one day and came across a photo of a family tree that could be purchased on Etsy. It was $60 for the photo & I knew that was out of my budget. I knew there had to be a cheaper way.
I decided I would attempt to make one using Microsoft Publisher. After several attempts of not getting it I was starting to get discouraged. I decided I would give it one more try. I started to use wordart when typing out the names rather than the normal text box.  After making some changes & playing around with the placement I had it just the way I liked. Only thing left to do was get it printed & purchase a frame.  I designed the photo to be 11×14 but when I uploaded it to Walmart it cropped half the photo. I remembered that I had used Office Max to print some other projects. It uploaded perfectly! I then went to Target to find a frame. I found one brown frame in 11×14 & it was on clearance, even better. I'm so happy with the outcome and I hope she loves it much as I do when I give it to her later!
Breakdown of Cost:
Print at Office Max- $1.36
Frame at Target: $11.88

White BBQ Chicken Salad Recipe

I had to go to a picnic & was asked to bring a side dish. I used to work in a nursing home & they made a dish they called "White Barbecue Chicken Salad" that I have been craving for awhile now. I searched online for a recipe but couldn't find one. I did find a recipe for white barbecue sauce here and I remembered what they put in the salad. It turned out amazing!

Pasta Salad:
  • 1 Box Rotini Noodles
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper (Diced)
  • 1 Orange Bell Pepper Diced)
  • 1/2 Red Onion (Diced)
  • Diced Chicken (I used the premade chicken strips & cut them into smaller pieces)
  • 1 Can Of Black Beans
  • 2 Cans Of Corn
White Barbecue Sauce:
  • 2 Cups Mayo
  • 2 Tb Black Pepper
  • 2 Tb Salt
  • 6 Tb Lemon Juice
  • 6 Tb Distilled White Vinegar
  • 4 Tb Sugar
Directions:
Prepare the pasta as directed. While the pasta is cooking dice up the veggies & chicken, drain the black beans & corn. To prepare the sauce just mix all the ingredients & stir until smooth. Once everything is prepared mix together, chill for an hour then enjoy!

It's been awhile....

I haven't made a post in quite some time now. I'm hoping to start blogging on a regular basis, or at least more frequently than once a year.

Today was a day of all kinds of emotions & very busy. I started it by scheduling a job interview for tomorrow afternoon (unemployed since Sep. 2012).  I then went to my parents house to meet up with my mom & niece to run some errands. While I was out I received news that my best friend of 15 years had her 1st baby, a little boy they plan on calling JJ. She lives in Myrtle Beach so I' hoping in the next several months I will be able to get down there & meet the little cutie. Later in the day I met with my moms side of the family for a remembrance dinner in honor of my grandpa. Today marked 11 years since his passing & every year we have gone to dinner at a Mexican restaurant to honor him (he was a proud Mexican). Once I got home so I started working on my craft project for my friends gift. It only took me 2 hours & lots of changes to get it perfect.

I'm going to get it printed & framed in the morning & I will mail it with some other gifts I picked up.

Lingerie Shower

So a couple weeks ago I hosted a Lingerie Shower/ Bachelorette Party for my best friend who was married this past weekend, August 4th. With the help of pinterest I came up with a bunch of ideas & decided it was time for some DIY projects.

The Invitations!!

I made the invitations in Microsoft Word & printed them on a white shimmer card stock that I got from Archivers.

Chalkboard based Wine Glasses!!

I found the glasses at Marc's for $1 each then bought chalkboard paint from Michael's & painted the bases with a sponge brush.

The Banner!!

I used card stock, stickers & ribbon that I got from Michael's Craft Store. I printed out a triangle in the size I wanted & traced it onto the card stock then cute them all out. After that I placed the stickers that I found in the scrapbook section. Once that was done I used a hole puncher to get the holes then strung the ribbon through to attach all the letters.

Chocolate Corset Lollipops!!

I purchased the mold from a local cake & candy shop & bought pink chocolate & white chocolate from Walmart. I melted the white chocolate & put it in a squeeze bottle so I could outline the lace area. Then I just poured the melted pink chocolate on top.

I wasn't able to get a good picture of the gift I gave to her but I made her a gift basket. In the gift basket I included lingerie with a silk robe, a bottle of champagne, two champagne glasses & a doorknob hanger that said "It's Our Wedding Night".

Wedding Day Project!!

Bridal Party Yoga Capri's!!
(Sorry About the Feet)

I made these for all the girls in the bridal party to wear the morning on the wedding. I found the capri's at JcPenney's for $5 each & the iron-on from Pat Catan's for $2.99 each. All of the girls loved them.

Well I decided to start a blog to give me something to do while my husband is at work. Lately I've been all about DIY projects & baking so I decided this would be the perfect place to display some of the things I've done. Hope you enjoy!
